Raheem Sterling Enters Manchester City Talks to Fend off Real Madrid Interest
For years, there has been quiet talk that Real Madrid see Manchester City star Raheem Sterling as their chosen next ‘Galactico’. The England international has gone from being inconsistent for City to becoming one of their most prolific and important players. With Madrid looking to sharpen up their side and add some freshness and zest that is missing, Sterling is seen as the ideal player to add to the squad.
While names like Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr. are often floated around, the link with Sterling has always felt the strongest. However, reports claim that Manchester City are set to try and tie down one of their key players in a bid to make it clear to Madrid that he is going nowhere.
The 24-year-old signed a new deal with City last year, though it’s believed that it did not put Madrid off – at least enough. So now, the club look set to try and increase his terms yet again. The hope is that the extra wages and the responsibility will be enough to give Sterling cause to stick around and retain his part in making history at City.
With his current wages supposed to be in the region of £300,000 per week, too, it would be hard for Madrid to stretch too far beyond that point. Should they find a way to ship off Gareth Bale, though, that could soon change. The future for Raheem Sterling, either way, looks very much like an enjoyable, lucrative one. Whether he’s in the white of Madrid or the blue of City, he’s certainly going to be playing for a top team.
